Since I was in college, studying German, Russian, and a few other languages, I have enjoyed learning new words and their etymology. Here are a few of the more interesting literary terms I have found. Many of these are rather obscure or even antiquated, but by picking up these new words, I pick up the … Continue reading “Lexicon”
Photos and snapshots of myself from various years back to 2005.
I have developed a new, inexpensive way of advertising The Chamber.
As you know, over the last few days I have been working on a play titled “Incommunicado” that I haven’t worked on in over a year. Yesterday, I was toying with an idea for a possible poster, should the play ever be produced. My draft is above. Let me know what you think. Does this poster tell you enough about the play that it would make you want to see it?
This is a reprint of an article that originally appeared on August 25, 2021. Because I currently live in a rural area, I have decided to experiment with opening another magazine: Rural Fiction Magazine. The idea came to me while I was driving to the pharmacy in the nearby (about 17 miles from my residence) … Continue reading “Rural Fiction Magazine is Now Accepting Submissions”
Because I currently live in a rural area, I have decided to experiment with opening another magazine: Rural Fiction Magazine. The idea came to me while I was driving to the pharmacy in the nearby (about 17 miles from my residence) town of Dumas. While I enjoy immensely working with The Chamber Magazine, it does … Continue reading “Rural Fiction Magazine is Now Accepting Submissions”

I am still working on Shadows and Stars, but I have ideas constantly flowing about Lycanthrope, so I am getting them down as fast as possible. The story is about a man who decides he wants to become a werewolf, so he researches … Continue reading “Update: Lycanthrope, February 12, 2021”

I was up late (i.e in the early morning of December 18) working on a future post to be entitled “A Few Thoughts on Vampires”. At one point in it, I mention John William Polidori, who wrote the original vampire story The Vampyre, whose main character is the vampire Lord Ruthven, a character which was … Continue reading “A Few Notes on Lady Caroline Lamb, Lord Byron, and Dr. Polidori”
Baltasar Gracian y Morales (1601-1658) I have a small book entitled The Art of Worldly Wisdom: A collection of Aphorisms from the Works of Baltasar Gracian (translated by Martin Fischer, published by Barnes and Noble, 1993). Baltasar Gracian y Morales (1601-1658) was a Spanish Jesuit scholar and writer of Baroque prose. The Art of Worldly Wisdom … Continue reading “Baltasar Gracian on Expressing Yourself”
The ad I uploaded recently was too small to work well with Pinterest. Therefore, I created this one. Let me know what you think. I also created a new feature image, which is at the bottom of the page.

I was doing some ego-surfing on the Internet last night, when I came across the photo above, which I took some years ago. I posted it to Wikimedia and now I occasionally run across it in an ad or article for a hotel. In this case, it is being used by Travel Triangle for an … Continue reading “Slattery Trivia for the Day: Hotel Room Photo”
I was looking for new reviews of my work on the Internet when I ran across this blast from the past. This is a video of me talking about the first movie that truly terrified me: Hellraiser. I made this video in 2015 and submitted it to The Bleeding Critic. This was the first time … Continue reading “My Horror Memories on the Bleeding Critic: Hellraiser”
I found out a few minutes ago that I received a vey favorable review for Nocturne: Poems of Love, Distance, and the Night, a callous and disinterested lover from L.S. Popovich. I sent her a copy on November 17 and the review appeared today on Amazon and Goodreads. I did not pay her for the … Continue reading “Good News: I Received a Favorable Review for Nocturne”
