Liquid shoulders touched by wings of albatrosses shiver. The occult aroma of the volcano goddess cries. A lily and a rose light candles in the dark. My pregnant soul invokes my ancestors. Ecstasy encroaches its eight hands around your naked chest. A lonely pearl looks for its shell. Tears shed in silence. Aquatic sorcery of […]

The Miser and The Demon — Annette Rochelle Aben
Benor was walking down Slip Pike Lane at a steady pace. Anybody watching him might have noted that his stride was precise, each step exactly the same length as the last. Somebody particularly observant might have noticed that every ten paces, Benor made a mark on a piece of paper with an indelible pencil. At this point they might […]
Demons — Luna
The pallid moonlight, falls on your face Shining like a halo surrounding the Angel of Death, The midnight ember, blazes just right Starting this fire within me, that flows Through my veins, through the dozen Knives that impale my heart. It’s gloomy here, white-washed visages and white lies Convenient and compelling I’d tell you forgotten […]

“Diabolical: Three Tales of Jack Thurston and Revenge” is Available on Kindle and in Print

Please go to amazon.com/author/philslattery or Goodreads or any other social media to leave a review.
Jack Thurston is a retired professor of medieval literature and history. He is also a widower and father and a retired sorcerer who has returned to the black arts to exact revenge for the death of his wife, daughter, and brother. He has an intriguing position in the universe at a focal point of life, the afterlife, logic and reason, anger and hatred, the ancient and the modern worlds, grief and his attempts to escape grief through self-destruction. Though he wants to have the peace he once found with his wife, Agatha, he is pulled in many directions by circumstance and by his powerful negative emotions.
I am a fan of the old school horror practiced by such authors as H.P. Lovecraft, Poe, Edward Lucas White, and Arthur Machen. I endeavor to make a story as terrifying and suspenseful for the reader as possible without resorting to gratuitous blood and gore for a simple shock or quick feeling of disgust.
This collection of three short tales is perfect for those who have only a few short breaks to escape into the hidden world of horror, black magic, sorcery, and anger-fueled revenge.
You can find this and other works at my Amazon author’s page: www.amazon.com/author/philslattery.
Currently, Jack has a Twitter account (@jthurston666), where he has attracted a small following and where it has only recently been revealed that he is fictional. Jack has his own blog at jackthurstonblog.wordpress.com (a work in progress) and his own e-mail at jackthurston666@gmail.com.

Heaven or Hell? — Source of Inspiration
Freezing cold my hell will be daily trips to the dentist no pizza, laughter or soft beds on which to lie Will our hells be of our own making or will we create heaven wherever we are?

Heaven & Hell………….. — Boundless Blessings by Kamal
Once an old monk, sat in deep meditation in a monastery in Japan, when, suddenly, out of the blue, his meditation was interrupted by a harsh and demanding voice of a samurai warrior, ‘Old man! If you are that wise as many say, then teach me about heaven and hell! I want to know what […]
On Reading Poetry — mtaggartwriter
I believe poetry means what it needs to mean to the reader. I remember reading poetry while in college and listening to the professor dissect the work. Often I would disagree. I think if a reader takes from a piece something of value, something that might even help internally, then the piece has accomplished a […]

Streak — MY VALIANT SOUL
There, beyond the ripples of mouth, lovers sits & communicate, through the sprint in their lashes, flutter of springs. a translucent shadow defies time. for that particular moment. small things begin to dilate. too much convulsions, temperature drop, wrinkled grass land. A grasshoper watches sky detonating. laughters circulating the wobbly afternoon. A visceral face expanding. […]
