True, as an American, I can’t off the top of my head name a Welsh writer (or a Scottish one for that matter). I am familiar with British history and therefore know a little about Wales and Scotland. I have a fair knowledge of English literature. I am familiar with some British TV (Hinterlands and Shetland among others). However, what Wales may lack in recognition for its writers, it makes for in the renown of its actors. Richard Burton and (Sir) Anthony Hopkins are both from Glamorgan, aren’t they?
I just checked the Internet for Welsh writers and found out that Ken Follett is Welsh. Of course, Dylan Thomas was there. He had slipped my mind when trying to recall Welsh writers.
Though Wales may be a small country geographically, it has left an indelible impression at least on the arts of acting and writing.
