Phil Slattery Update: Children’s Book “Bobby the Brown Pelican”

An update on my new project: a children’s book.

Over the weekend I completed the first draft of the text for a children’s book, which I first conceived over ten years ago while living on the Gulf coast.  It has roughly 1,350 words.  I have written it for kids around first to second grades, and it is entitled Bobby the Brown Pelican.  It is about a young pelican who is afraid to dive into the water to catch fish.  His dad teaches him how to do things in spite of being afraid.   His parents are very supportive of him  I have written the book, so that a parent can read it to his/her child and discuss it with the child as they go.
